Silva Screen Records’ 100 Greatest Film Themes, Take 2 continues in the vein of its predecessor by compiling an esoteric collection of movie music that spans generations. From Citizen Kane and West Side Story to Slumdog Millionaire and Avatar, the overview can seem a bit random at times, and the majority of the tracks are recent re-recordings of the source material, resulting in a fairly generic set of film music.

The third installment in the series, 100 Greatest Film Themes, Take 3 gathers together a sprawling collection of film music into a six-disc set. Spanning from 1930 to 2012, the set features themes from films ranging from classics like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Apocalypse Now, and Star Wars: A New Hope to more contemporary movies like The Dark Knight Rises, The Hunger Games, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, making for an expansive and eclectic collection. This wide and extremely varied collection provides the perfect overview of a musical genre that can both delight and educate on a journey through cinematic history.
Of note, this collection does contain re-recorded versions of these songs, so anyone looking for original recordings would be better served by going to the original soundtracks.

ВладИмир КОсма (Vladimir Cosma) родился в Бухаресте, но еще в совсем юном возрасте перебрался во Францию и поначалу играл на виолончели у Нади Буланже, где и пристрастился к жанру "музыкальной иллюстрации".
Не удивительно, что на юное дарование обратил внимание мэтр французской комедии Ив Робер, и уже в 1968 году Косма пишет свой первый саундтрек к его картине "Блаженный Александр". Многолетнее сотрудничество с Робером быстро сделало Косма знаменитым в среде комедиографов - он работает с Франсисом Вебером, Жераром Ури, Клодом Зиди и Паскалем Тома, пишет музыку к большинству фильмов с участием Пьера Ришара, Жерара Депардье, Луи де Фюнеса и других королей французской комедии.
Звездным часом композитора становится невероятный всемирный успех трилогии Клода Пиното со сквозной героиней Софи Марсо в главной роли: "Бум", "Бум-2" и "Студентка". Однако амбициозному Косма надоедает роль "короля кинокомедии", и он пытается освоить драматический жанр - начинается сотрудничество с Андре Кайаттом, Жаном-Лу Юбером, а за удивительный саундрек к культовому фильму Бенекса "Дива" (1981) композитор наконец-то получает "Сезара".
Всего Владимир Косма написал музыку более чем к 160 теле и кинофильмам. Сейчас композитор живет в Париже.

Marco Beltrami has been nominated for two Academy Awards® for Best Original Score for his work on 3:10 to Yuma and the Best Picture Oscar®-winner Hurt Locker. He is best known for his work scoring horror films such as Mimic, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, Resident Evil, The Woman in Black and this year’s Sundance favorite, The Sessions. A long-time friend and collaborator of Wes Craven, Beltrami has scored seven of the director’s films since their first collaboration on Scream. He also composed the score for the last two Die Hard movies, Live Free or Die Hard and A Good Day to Die Hard.
